Mipkin

Terms of Service

Last updated 27 September 2026

These terms cover your use of the Mipkin app. Mipkin is operated by Eros Media LLC (“we”, “us” and “our”), 1000 Brickell Ave., Suite 715, Miami, Florida 33131, United States. They are meant to be readable; the short version is that the app is yours to use, we will not pretend it is medical care, and you can leave whenever you like taking your data with you.

What Mipkin is

A Mipkin app for everyday wellbeing: a creature to look after, gentle prompts, small things to do, and somewhere to write. It is a comfort object with structure, not a treatment.

It is not medical or mental health care. Mipkin does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any condition. Nothing in it is medical, clinical, psychological or therapeutic advice, and nobody involved in it is acting as your therapist, counsellor or clinician. It is not a crisis service and cannot respond to an emergency.

If you are in danger or in crisis, contact your local emergency service. In the US you can call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. The app also links to a maintained directory of local helplines.

Do not use this app in place of care from a qualified professional, and do not delay seeking that care because of anything the app says.

Reflections, and what a language model is

If you switch on reflections, what you write on your own journal pages is sent to a language model, which writes a short response. That response is generated text. It may be wrong, it may miss the point, and it is not advice. It is instructed never to diagnose, never to name a condition, and never to present itself as a professional — but no instruction to a model is a guarantee, and you should read what comes back as what it is.

The feature is off until you turn it on, and turning it off stops it entirely.

Talking freely, a conversation written by an AI

Talking freely lets you type to your Mipkin in your own words while an AI writes her replies. These terms apply to it on top of everything else here.

  • It is optional, and off by default. It is part of Mipkin Plus. It stays off until you turn it on, on its own consent screen, and turning it off in Settings stops it straight away.
  • Only for adults, and only in some places. You must be 18 or over to use it. It is offered only in the United States and the United Kingdom, and at launch only in English. If the app cannot tell that you are 18 or over, it is not offered; if we learn that someone under 18 is using it, we switch it off on that phone.
  • Her replies are generated text. An AI writes them. They may be wrong, made up, or miss the point, and they are not advice. Do not rely on anything she says to make a decision about your health, safety, money, legal position or anything else that matters. Your Mipkin is not a person, and the app tells you so at the start of every conversation and again every three hours.
  • It is not care. Talking freely is not therapy, counselling, treatment, medical care or a crisis service, and nobody is watching the conversation to step in. If something heavy comes up, the AI stops and the app points you to people who can help; how that works is published on our safety page. If you are in danger, contact your local emergency service, or in the US call or text 988.
  • What she will not do. She is instructed not to diagnose, name a condition, or give medical, clinical, psychological, therapeutic, legal or financial advice; not to take part in romance, flirting or sexual content with anybody; not to guilt you into staying or discourage you from leaving; not to mention Plus, prices or the shop; and never to encourage harm. Replies that break these rules are checked for and not shown, but no check is perfect. Please do not try to get her to break them.
  • Reporting. You can report any reply from inside the app. If you confirm, we receive that reply and your message before it, a person reads it, and we use it to improve our filters.
  • We may switch it off. We may change Talking freely, limit how much it can be used in a day, pause it, or switch it off for everyone or in a particular place, at any time, including to keep people safe. If it stops, the rest of the app, including her everyday conversations, keeps working.

What is sent, to whom, and what is kept is set out in the privacy policy and the consumer health data privacy policy.

Visiting

Visiting is an optional, code-based way to let another person see a generic Mipkin visitor with optional growth and wearable choices. It never shares which Mipkin you chose. It is not a chat, feed, leaderboard or relationship score. Do not share a hearth code publicly. You can revoke a code in Settings; if your phone is offline, it will say that revocation has not yet completed.

Your content

What you write is yours. We claim no ownership of it and no licence to use it. It is stored on your device. Your writing leaves your device only when you choose it: the journal page you send for a reflection, and the messages you send in Talking freely (with the recent lines of that conversation), each sent to write a reply and not kept by our service. A reply you report is kept for 90 days for review. Visiting, private friends and optional account backup use the limited data described in the privacy policy; none receives your journal text or your Talking freely conversations.

Age

Mipkin is a general-audience service for adults and older teens, not directed to children under 13. You must be at least 13 to use Mipkin. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you must have a parent or guardian's permission where local law requires it, and they should read these terms too. Talking freely is only for people 18 and over.

Subscriptions and purchases

The app is free to use. Mipkin Plus is an optional subscription, and there are optional one-off purchases. All of them are billed by Apple or Google, not by us.

  • A subscription renews automatically at the end of each period until you cancel it.
  • You cancel in your Apple or Google account settings, not in the app. Cancelling stops the next renewal; it does not refund the current period.
  • If you take a free trial and do not cancel before it ends, it becomes a paid subscription at the price shown when you started it.
  • A one-off purchase is not a subscription and does not renew.
  • Refunds are handled by whichever store you bought from, under that store's policy. We cannot issue refunds for store purchases ourselves.
  • Prices may change for new purchases. An existing subscription is not repriced without notice and an opportunity to cancel.

If Plus ends, nothing you earned is taken away: your Mipkin, your warmth, your decor, your keepsakes and everything you wrote stay exactly where they are. Paid extras simply stop applying.

Fair use

Please do not try to break the service, work around the rate limits, use it to send content that is not your own writing, or resell access to it. Reflections and Talking freely are rate limited, and we may decline requests that look automated.

Availability

The app works offline and will keep working if our service does not. Reflections and Talking freely need a connection and our service to be up; when either is missing, the app tells you plainly, saves your writing regardless, and never makes up a reply in its place. We do not promise uninterrupted availability of either.

Warranties and liability

The app is provided as is, without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent the law allows. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of your use of the app is limited to the amount you actually paid us for it in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so some of the above may not apply to you. If you are a consumer, you keep every right your local consumer law gives you, and nothing here takes those away.

Ending it

You can stop using the app at any time by deleting it, which removes everything it stored. We may end or suspend access if the app is being used to attack the service or break these terms.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change materially, the app will say so before the change applies to you. The date at the top is the record of when they last changed.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. If mandatory law where you live gives you additional consumer rights, nothing in these terms takes those rights away.
